The most popular of all the districts for tourists and residents alike, Miraflores is known for its beautifully flowered parks, excellent restaurants, hotels, nightlife and high-rise lined Malecón. Overlooking the Pacific Ocean and beach area below known as Costa Verde, the Malecón is made up of a string of connected parks and green areas, one of which is the takeoff and landing-area for the often-pictured paragliders.

From Larcomar, the open-air shopping mall overlooking the Pacific, to Parque Kennedy - the heart of tourism in Lima, to Calle de las Pizzas - famous for its nightlife, there is something for everyone in Miraflores.

Like San Isidro, Miraflores has it's own pre-Incan ceremonial and burial ruins, Huaca Pucllana. In addition to a small museum and several daily tours, this site hosts an excellent upscale bar and restaurant of the same name. Here you can enjoy premier Peruvian cuisine at the base of this ancient pyramid which, when lit up at night, creates an unforgettable dining experience. 

Miraflores is the home to some of the most prestigious primary and secondary schools in Lima, including Markham College, San Silvestre School, Pestalozzi and Alexander von Humboldt.

This area, particularly popular with tourists, has an extra strong security and police presence, making it one of the safer districts in Lima and a favorite residential area with expats.
