There are 5 main grocery store options owned by 3 large retail conglomerates. The more "international" and hence expensive of them being Wong and Vivanda. In comparison, Plaza Vea, Tottus and Metro are typically more modestly priced.  Shopping at the many local open-air mercados of small individual purveyors is however, by far the best way to get the freshest produce, meats and other foods at the lowest prices.

There is no shortage of opportunities to shop for consumer goods and luxury brands in Lima, with the city hosting several large and modern North American styled shopping malls. Jockey Plaza, Plaza San Miguel, Real Plaza Salaverry and the open-air Larcomar, situated on a cliff overlooking the ocean, are among the most popular of the many.

Calle Los Conquistadores in San Isidro, a long, winding street, lined with local and international boutiques, hair salons and restaurants offers a different and more tranquil shopping experience relative to the numerous mega malls. 

The Indian markets in Miraflores and Pueblo Libre are where you will find traditional Peruvian handicrafts. Beautiful alpaca and vicuña knitwear, handcrafted silver jewelry and picture frames, as well as exquisitely carved wood and leather goods are available at great and almost always, negotiable prices.
